How To Solder Three Wires Together
Twist and fold twisted helix and lineman splice.
How to solder three wires together. Connect together stranded wire and solid wire as shown in the third picture Use a thin solid wire 28 AWG-30 AWG and wrap it around both wires. Wire splicing is not like rope splicing in days of old where two ropes were actually braided together into one. Touch the tip of the soldering iron to the copper wires.
Lay them together overlapping at the soldered part then blob them together. Begin by removing the insulation from the ends of both wires you are soldering together. Place the tip of the iron on the wire and let it heat for a few seconds.
An easy way to hold wires together for soldering eg. Make seven or eight turns and cut the excess of the wire. Your solder will be applied opposite from the iron on top of the wire.
This is essentially putting the solder on the wires before attaching the connector. The wires will melt and will get soldered together. Soldering Multiple Wires for a Distribution Joint Step 1.
Its not too difficult. Hold it on the wire for 3-4 seconds. In this example I have one 16AWG wire feeding five 16AWG outputs for power distribution.
Cover With Heat Shrink. The challenge is holding the wires in place long enough for the solder to cure. In the first case make sure the bare end of the wire is at least long enough to make a half tun around the screw and always wrap it round the screw in the same direction as you will be tightening it.
