How To Make A Soldering Tip
Following are the few important guidelines to be followed to get best results in soldering.
How to make a soldering tip. The soldering lead and the iron tip should be at an angle of 45 degrees so as the make the solder flow easily. Apply very little flux in the solder joints and make the soldering. Begin by making sure the tip is attached to the iron and screwed tightly in place.
Plug in the iron and turn it on. The solder melts and should stick at the tip. This sponge is used to clean solder off the tip of the soldering iron.
Apply the soldering iron tip to one side of joint making contact with the component lead and the board copper foil ensuring that both are heated up to the same temperature as shown in Fig. Dont handle bare wire with dirty hands. Notice the tinned tip in Fig.
It makes everything so much easier. If it doesnt you need to remove all solder and grind the tip again more thoroughly. Clean the tinned tip and you have a refurbished soldering tip.
Its easier to do decorative soldering on top of already soldered seams. Make sure your soldering iron is fully heated and touch the tip to the end of one of the wires. Tinning and proper cleaning is extremely important to make the soldering process easy.
This should leave the tip of the iron with a layer of solder on it. The high strength steel alloy on the other hand would also have superior oxidation and corrosion resistance over the soft copper at the normal temperatures that a soldering gun works at. Install the prepared tip in your soldering iron.
